What I wish younger me knew.
When I look back over my career, I see so many moments where I wish younger David had the tools I have now. I didn’t have a coach. I didn’t have a mentor pointing out my blind spots, holding me accountable, or giving me the advice I desperately needed. And honestly, many of the people I’ve worked with didn’t have that either.
We were all just doing our best, navigating on instinct, trying to figure out how to bring our A-game every day without really knowing what was holding us back.
The greatest advantage I’ve gained throughout my career is learning to coach myself with real frameworks and strategies. Strategies that help me show up to my potential.
I’ve been a certified performance coach for years now. I’ve helped countless professionals navigate the same struggles I faced. But here’s the truth: while having a coach or mentor can be a game-changer, the most consistent voice in your life is your own.
What I now know.
Looking back, my journey to becoming a coach wasn’t a straightforward path. I faced moments of self-doubt, countless career pivots, and times when the next step wasn’t clear. But each challenge taught me something valuable about resilience, purpose, and the power of self-coaching.
